Howard is married and has lived in the ward for over 40 years. During that time he and his wife Lesley have brought up three children and now have eight grandchildren who all live locally, so Howard is aware first hand of the problems facing local schools and children.

He is a former Admin Director of London’s largest charitable housing trust but took early retirement in 2003 to devote more time to his role as a member of Medway Council’s Cabinet.

Howard is currently Cabinet portfolio holder for Housing and Community Services which includes lead responsibility for:

This keeps him closely in touch with many of the key issues facing the local community and enables him to ensure that Rainham South is effectively represented at the heart of the Council.

He chairs the Strategic Partnering Board of the Medway LIFT Project, which has created a number of healthy living centres in Medway, including the new Centre opposite St. Margaret’s Church in Rainham, which is well used by many of us locally.
